2023 Sidelines & Stages Foundation Spelling Bee

The Sidelines & Stages Foundation held its annual Spelling Bee on March 31, 2023, and it was a resounding success. The Bee was open to all enrolled elementary school students in Essex County, and it attracted a field of talented spellers ranging from 3rd to 5th grade. The event was held virtually over Zoom, which made it accessible to all students regardless of their location.

The Spelling Bee consisted of 14 participants who previously won their school-wide spelling bee. They had been studying word lists and practicing their spelling skills in anticipation of the big day. The competition was fierce, and the students were determined to emerge victorious.

In the end, it was Mt. Pleasant Elementary School fourth-grader Aria Khambhati who emerged victorious. She correctly spelled the word peruse in the 19th round to clinch the title of Essex County Spelling Bee champion. Aria's victory was a testament to her hard work, dedication, and outstanding spelling skills. As the champion, she will move on to represent Sidelines & Stages Foundation competing at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The 2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee Finals will be broadcast on Ion TV Thursday, June 1, 2023. The Bee will release its full broadcast schedule on spellingbee.com by May 1, 2023.

The Foundation would like to thank all the students who participated in the Spelling Bee, as well as their parents, teachers, and schools for supporting them. The Foundation is committed to providing opportunities for students to learn and grow, and events like the Spelling Bee are an important part of that mission.

In conclusion, the 2023 Essex County Spelling Bee was a huge success. Congratulations to Aria Khambhati and all the participants for their hard work and dedication. We look forward to next year!
